Reported SARS2 death sums from the Philippines government are unreliable.

By 4 June 2021, 19,094 health care workers tested positive for COVID-19. 18,869 out of these cases recovered, while 97 died.

The Duterte government has varying levels of lockdown across all the Philippines' local government units (LGU) characterized as "community quarantines". The stiffest of these quarantines is the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Restrictions were imposed on various quadrants of society such as mass public transportation, mass gathering, and the operation of commercial businesses.

Philippines Health care Workers complain of being underpaid and overworked

In April 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte warned anyone who violates the country's lockdown measures could be shot for causing trouble.

"The patient bodies are there but they died before we got a test result so they are not counted as COVID-19", one nurse practitioner told FPMag. Since then over 40 Philippines healthcare workers have reported the same problem. Data from the Philippines is no longer considered accurate until extra daily deaths (above the average dailies for the period 2014-2019 same months) are recalculated to know the extent of the crisis.

How many? "More than the ones who were tested and died."

Are patients still being intubated for the ventilator? "Almost all seniors and about 85% die and that's before we get a test back in many cases."

COVID-19 Frontliners are "Overworked, underpaid and marginally working in a professional environment"

"You are not a professional if you do not have the tools of your trade skills with which to do your work," notes one doctor, angrily.

"Our health workers are suffering burnout with seemingly endless number of patients trooping to our hospitals for emergency care and admission," said Jose Santiago, president of the Philippines Medical Association.

"We are waging a losing battle," notes Jose, "against Covid-19 and we need to draw up a consolidated and definitive plan of action."

Trends: Philippines COVID-19 Cumulative Cases to late June 2022 indicate testing is only for hospitalized.

The climbs and plateaus indicate that the data is responsive to hospitalization and not to testing. In other words, when Filipinos get very sick with COVID-19 they are hospitalized and then they are forced to get tested. According to the World Health Organization, this is an undesirable situation to be in. The prospect of tracking the disease in the Philippines is near zero. By the time there is a strong indication of a surge in hospitalizations it is too late to bolster resources and take public health mitigation steps.

One positive step the country has taken is to insist citizens continue to wear masks when they leave home. However, the types of masks most Filipinos wear are useless for self protection against the highly transmissible BA.5 and other new subvariants of Omicron SARS-COV-2. Only a respirator mask will protect the wearer. That's an N-95 or equivalent. With good care they can be warn over and over again if cared for. The vast majority of such masks sold to Filipinos are fake, offering little to no protection. Buyer beware. Vendors of fake masks and other fake medical supplies are killing Filipinos. The government of the Philippines might better serve its people by instead of killing people who smoked a joint, prosecute the scumbags selling fake PPE.
